Armando Jaramillo Garcia

His shoulder was sore from having crashed through the door

Crows escaped the crushed joint coming back to life

She was there beyond the operetta playing in the room

Coffee stains everywhere and a brand from a cameo on her arm

The argument was quick and escaped through a cracked window

To join the evening air which barely shuddered and the light

Which had turned saffron for the usual reasons

If you had a clubbed foot she said if you had an encephalitic brain

He said if sparrows were picking at your scrotum she said

If your eye was lazy and your lower lip drooped he said

And this went on for hours between the times

They spent rubbing balms over their injuries

And the spicy pinpricks of their distress

Which had become commonplace

But special
